Kannur International Airport Ltd (KIAL) is an unlisted public company promoted by the Government of Kerala with the vision to build and operate an international standard airport in Kannur. The airport serves the growing travel needs of the large Non-Resident Indian (NRI) population, the business community, and tourists in the region, which is known for its vast tourist potential. Key Features: Strategic Location & Purpose: Location: The airport is located in the Kannur district of Kerala, India, in an area of around 2,300 acres. Target Audience: It primarily caters to NRIs, business travelers, and tourists. Public-Private Partnership (PPP): KIAL is the second greenfield airport in Kerala, built on a Public-Private Partnership model. Inauguration & Operations: The airport was commissioned on December 9, 2018, and became the 4th international airport in Kerala, which is the only state in India with four international airports.
